Job Description The Department of Food and Animal Sciences of the College of Agriculture at Tennessee State University is seeking to hire an Assistant or Associate Professor of Veterinary Medicine and Extension Veterinarian. This is a tenure-track, 12-month faculty position. This faculty member will serve as the TSU Extension veterinarian and be responsible for establishing a state-wide Extension and outreach program to train Extension agents, prepare and provide Extension curricula for Extension agents, and educate livestock producers in Tennessee focused on livestock production and disease management. Additionally, this faculty member will conduct applied research with externally funded grants and publish scholarly papers in peer reviewed journals. This faculty may teach one or two 3-credit hour course/s per year depending on the departmental need or assignment. This faculty member will also work with other faculty members, state veterinarians, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation and other livestock associations in Tennessee to carry out their responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications DVM with certification to practice Veterinary Medicine in
USA. DVM
with Ph. D is preferred. Experience in teaching, research and/or Extension will be preferred. Ability to teach, conduct research and publish in relevant, scholarly professional journals. Ability to write and secure external grants. Understanding and ability to plan, implement, evaluate and report statewide Extension and outreach program.
