Summary We are “your other family doctor.” Yeah, we know that sounds cheesy, but we try be different than the average vet clinic. We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant or LVMT to join our team at Signal Mountain Veterinary Clinic. As a member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality, compassionate medical care across both our stationary and mobile services. Responsibilities include supporting veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, treatments, surgical assistance, and patient monitoring. You will also perform nursing care, client education, restraint, sample collection, lab testing, and medication administration for a variety of species. In the mobile setting, you’ll help deliver care directly to clients’ homes—ensuring comfort and continuity for pets in hospice, long-term care, or those needing routine services. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, autonomy, and a passion for exceptional nursing care both on the road and in the clinic. At the clinic we offer in-hospital diagnostics (microscopy, culture, digital body and dental radiographs, ultrasound, abaxis machines, etc). Our wellness vaccinations follow AAFP and AAHA standards. We perform soft tissue, orthopedic and dental surgery. We enjoy coming to work. We laugh and have fun. We have been known to have nerf gun fights instead of staff meetings. We work hard but take time to relax and we appreciate that our job is hard. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures. Provide compassionate care to animals and support to pet owners. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic and treatment areas. Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and treatments. Life and hold large pets. Manage front desk duties including scheduling appointments and processing payments. Educate pet owners on proper animal care and post-treatment instructions. Assist with laboratory tests and maintain accurate medical records. Caring for clients and patients on the phone and in person as if they were family and friends. Accurately entering medical information and using the computer and veterinary software program (Ezyvet). Consistently providing exceptional customer service in a positive manner. Displaying legible handwriting and recording of digital information free of spelling, grammatical and calculation errors. Using a professional written and verbal tone in communication. Performing laboratory diagnostic testing, radiographic imaging, surgical monitoring, dental services, client education, nutritional recommendations, prescription refills, blood draws, medication administration. Troubleshooting, handling and following up on problems as they arise. Holding paws during euthanasia and cuddling puppies and kittens also required. Requirements Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting preferred. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy. Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members. Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately. Basic understanding of aseptic techniques and animal husbandry practices is a plus. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Familiarity with EzyVet is a plus! Our office hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 6:00 pm. – yes, you read that correctly – NO
