Your key responsibilities include:
Triage of Incoming Emergencies:

Assess and prioritize the severity of incoming cases based on the initial presentation of the animal. Gather detailed patient histories from owners and accurately record information. Measure and record vitals, including temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.

Restraint and Handling:

Safely restrain animals during examination or medical procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety while minimizing stress. Assist veterinarians and technicians with diagnostic procedures and emergency treatments. Assisting in

Diagnostics and Treatments:

Support the medical team by preparing equipment, assisting in tests, and administering treatments as directed. Monitor patients under medical care, reporting changes in condition promptly to the veterinarian.

Medication Dispensing:

Assist in the proper dispensing of medications as prescribed by the attending veterinarians. Educate clients on medication administration and any follow-up care needed for their pets.

Cleaning and Restocking:

Ensure the triage and treatment areas are cleaned, sanitized, and organized at all times. Restock necessary medical supplies to maintain smooth operations and avoid delays.

Client Communication and Compassionate Care:

Communicate clearly with pet owners, explaining procedures, treatments, and answering questions in a compassionate and professional manner. Display emotional intelligence and empathy when interacting with distressed clients, helping to provide support during difficult times. Qualifications & Skills To succeed as a Veterinary Triage Assistant at AESC, we are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and skills:

Experience:

While experience is not required, prior animal care or veterinary clinic experience is preferred.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification or training in veterinary assisting, emergency care, or a related field is a plus.

Key Skills:

Strong ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills with both team members and clients. Attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure. Physical ability to assist in the restraint and handling of animals, sometimes including large or aggressive pets. A positive, compassionate attitude and a genuine desire to help animals. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Flexibility and willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as needed.
