Full Job Description Job Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our team at Forest Park Animal Clinic. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals, possess a strong work ethic, and demonstrate excellent communication and multitasking abilities. The Veterinary Assistant/Technician will support our veterinarians during exams and treatments, maintain the highest standard of care, and help ensure the smooth operation of the clinic.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist veterinarians in performing medical procedures, including exams, diagnostics, and surgeries Monitor and care for patients before, during, and after procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety Perform routine tasks such as administering medications, collecting samples, and conducting lab tests Restrain animals during exams and procedures, ensuring stress-free handling and safe techniques Maintain accurate patient records and update information in the clinic’s management system Provide clear communication to pet owners regarding their pet’s health, treatment plans, and medications Prepare examination rooms, surgical areas, and equipment for use Ensure proper sterilization of instruments and equipment following procedures Assist in inventory management, including ordering and stocking supplies Provide support and guidance to new veterinary assistants or trainees as needed Follow clinic protocols and adhere to regulatory standards for animal care

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (required) Certification as a Veterinary Technician (preferred but not required) 1-2 years of experience in a veterinary clinic (preferred) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments Proficiency with veterinary software and basic office tasks Knowledge of animal care, medical terminology, and procedures Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly Compassion for animals and their owners Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds Prolonged standing, walking, and bending Ability to safely restrain animals and handle medical equipment

Working Conditions:

Full-time or part-time position, including weekends as required Fast-paced, collaborative environment Exposure to animals, including some handling of injured or aggressive animals

Job Type:
Full-time Pay:

$15.00 – $19.00 per hour Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
