Veterinary Technician 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 1159 Boston Turnpike, Bolton, CT 06043 Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for companion animal dentistry and drive for personal growth in a low volume high quality referral setting. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in the health and well-being of our patients, assisting veterinarians in dental surgical procedures and ensuring that animals receive the best possible care. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations and oral surgical procedures. Performing physical and oral exams, catheter placement, intubation, and anesthesia recovery. Monitor anesthesia levels and vital signs during surgical procedures and detailed medical record keeping. Dental radiography, oral photography, dental charting, dental scaling and polishing, and performing local blocks. We are willing to teach these skills. Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Collect samples for laboratory testing such as blood. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient. Educate pet owners on proper animal dental care. Maintenance of the surgical suite, caring for surgical instruments, keeping materials stocked, assisting on controlled substance logs and general clinic orderliness. Handle animals safely and effectively to minimize stress during examinations or treatments. Engage in a pleasant work environment with the veterinarians and other staff in a small group setting. Familiarity with Mac computers and iPads are a plus. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Surgical anesthesia experience and willingness to continually develop in this area is as important as the dental work we do since many of our patients are older and have other health issues. Knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology is essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and team members. Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) is preferred but not mandatory. Willingness to learn new techniques and stay updated on veterinary practices.
