An emergency veterinary technician plays a critical role in emergency veterinary care, focusing on the initial assessment and prioritization of patients based on the severity of their condition. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician, required Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT), preferred Previous experience in specialty and/or emergency veterinary medicine, preferred Strong knowledge of veterinary medical protocols and procedures Excellent technical skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments Capacity to excel in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities Flexibility with working schedule, including availability for on-call, weekend shifts and holidays. Responsibilities Works closely with other experienced nurses, assistants, doctors, and management to provide excellent care of the patients and our guests Candidate must be detailed oriented and have Strategic/Forward/Critical Thinking Candidate must have the veterinary nurse skills as listed below: Have nursing skills that include proper animal restraint, obtain vitals, anesthesia monitoring, intubation, catheter placement, phlebotomy, performing treatments, and administering medications Able to monitor and care for patients using state of the art equipment and protocols Have knowledge of anesthetic protocols, and ability to run anesthesia.
