Job Description
Veterinary Technician 4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars Oviedo, FL 32765 Our animal hospital is currently seeking a Veterinary Technician to help assist in the daily operations of our business and support our Veterinarians provide care for our patients. We’re looking for an individual with a strong work ethic who is willing to go above and beyond for our clients and their furry friends. The right candidate will have at least a year of experience working in an animal hospital and should have experience in phlebotomy and basic veterinary procedures.
Responsibilities:
Align with and practice hospital Core Values (Teamwork, Positivity, Ingenuity, Communication, Respect, Integrity) Communicate with veterinarians and work efficiently to provide a thourough but time effective physical exam. Thorough history taking from clients regarding the health of their pet Perform laboratory tests and medical treatments with training. Cleaning and disinfecting equipment and hospital Able to safely and kindly restrain both cats and dogs for medical procedures. Understand the vaccine protocol for canines and felines for all life stages Understand basic classes of medication and nutraceuticals including flea/heartworm prevention; can relay information about these products to clients under direction of veterinarian This position does not require and surgical or anesthesia experience but the right candidate will have the opportunity to be cross-trained in these areas after at least 1 year of employment. Must be available are shifts are 7:30am-1pm or 1pm-7pm or 7:30am-7pm. Closing time may be sooner 30 min sooner or later depending on work flow/emergencies.
Physical Effort:
Work requires lifting and carrying animals, equipment, and food weighing up to 40 pounds (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting anything over 40 pounds). Walks, stands, bends, and twists for extended periods of time; Ability to push, pull, grasp, and reach.
Working Conditions:
Will be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal feces, urine and other bodily fluids. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases. Will be exposed to natural weather elements: ie. Heat, Rain, Cold, ect

$17.00 – $20.00 per hour
