- 5pm We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team and help up us grow!
PetWellClinic is a walk-in wellness and minor injury/illness care clinic located in the Highland Park Plaza near Blue Bayou Waterpark. We pride ourselves on convenient, quality wellness and minor illness/injury care with the client and pet as our top priority. If you have a passion for serving your community, working with animals, and are a great team-player, we encourage you to apply! As a Veterinary Technician, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting the veterinarian(s) with examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
- Greet our clients and provide compassionate care, service, and support to pet owners
- Check customers out and assist with selecting the services and/or packages that best fits their pets needs.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, lobby, reception, and laboratory areas
- Clean and organize facility
- Collect samples such as urine, blood, feces, ear swabs and skin samples
- Administer medications and injections as directed by veterinarians
- Perform laboratory tests such as fecals, bloodwork and urinalysis
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatment and procedures
- Answer emails, text messages, and place phone calls
- Have knowledge of, or are willing to learn about the importance of preventive care
- Contribute to social media and marketing
Skills:
- Proficient dog and cat handling techniques, including proper restraint methods
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior
- Knowledge of common laboratory procedures & equipment used in a veterinary setting
- Knowledge of common preventive medications for dogs and cats
- Ability to handle animals with patience, compassion and confidence
- Ability to clearly communicate with clients, veterinary assistants, and veterinarians
- Ability to lift up to 60lbs
- Willingness to learn and take direction
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required (College degree preferred)
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic (12 months minimum)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- VeterinaryPhlebotomy experience preferred.
- Ability to speak spanish a plus!
