Kansas City Animal Emergency is a locally owned and operated emergency clinic located in the Kansas City northland We are currently seeking a full or part-time Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team! The ideal candidate will be able to work 1 to 3 overnight shifts weekly, between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00am. The RVT will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinarians, ensuring the health and well-being of our patients and delivering outstanding customer service to our clients.

Position Summary:

Triage emergency cases as they arrive and communicate effectively with veterinarians, clients and staff Provide patient pain assessments, monitoring and updates for veterinarians Provide treatments for hospitalized patients including IV fluid therapy, oxygen therapy, wound care, feeding tube management, infectious disease precautions and more Technical skills include IV catheter, sample collection (phlebotomy, cystocentesis, urinary catheterization), feeding tube placement and management, nasal insufflation catheters, blood and plasma transfusions with development of proficiency in central line placement, blood and plasma transfusions, CPCR captaining, etc. Proficiency in radiography, anesthesia monitoring during emergency surgery, anesthetic ventilation and neonatal nursing, critical care monitoring Perform in-house laboratory testing including CBC, Chemistry, blood gas analysis, urinalysis, cytology, coagulation tests, blood type and crossmatch, Idexx snap tests with development of proficiency in blood and sample cytology and manual counts Collect, store and appropriately handle laboratory samples for laboratory testing Communicate with clients clearly while providing compassion and empathy in all circumstances and at every exchange. Maintaining a professional environment at all times. The timely upkeep of all documents and relevant annual continuing education to maintain skills and registration.
