Neurology Veterinary Technician Carolina Veterinary Specialists Matthews Matthews, NC Carolina Veterinary Specialists is hiring an outstanding Veterinary Technician to join the Neurology service! Our neurology team is known for their outstanding customer service and exceptional veterinary neurology care. The team works in collaboration with our network of board-certified neurologists and enjoys a 4-day work week with shared rotating on-call nights, weekends, and holidays. The neurology technician works as part of a cohesive team performing patient imaging, assisting with unique neurologic examinations and tests including on-site CT & MRI, and assisting with anesthesia and neurosurgery. There is a large client communication component to this position, and other tasks will include administering anesthesia and anesthetic intervention, patient monitoring and recovery, client education, and hands-on skills such as venipuncture, catheterization, surgical prep, lab sample prep, and more! What is the role of the Neurology Technician? The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. You will assist in providing patient care, conducting examinations, assisting during surgery, provide nursing care, and maintaining patient medical records.
Tasks include:
Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations and interviews, reviewing care plans and records, completing laboratory tests and studies, and diagnostic imaging. Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, drugs, and vaccines, and bandaging and wrapping wounds. Support patient examinations and operations by assembling required supplies and instruments, securing and bringing patients to examination rooms, and restraining patients. Fill prescriptions and administer medications, including proper documentation, logging and security of controlled drugs. Maintain a safe, secure, healthy and humane environment by following documented standards and procedures in compliance with applicable legal regulations. Maintain medical records by documenting patients’ conditions, reactions, and changes; updates database in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to demonstrate and follow correct procedures in catheter placement, phlebotomy, emergency medicine, and digital radiology. This is a highly specialized opportunity for the right candidate, who will possess: Positive, can-do attitude At least 1 year of clinical nursing experience experience Strong work ethic and good organizational and multi-tasking skills Ability to sit or stand throughout the day; occasional bending, and kneeling; ability to lift 40 lbs unassisted Other qualifications that you may find helpful: Working knowledge of standard veterinary medications Strong technical skills including phlebotomy, catheter placement, general laboratory, anesthesia and pharmacology skills Knowledge of normal patient parameters Knowledge of medical terminology Ability to administer and knowledge of medication and fluid therapies Knowledge of critical nursing care and steps to take in the event of patient compromise Ability to administer safe and appropriate fluid therapy Ability to monitor anesthesia safely Credential technician preferred Come Join Our Neurology Family!
