Job Description

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT II) – RT Imaging Technician Has working on a small team in a big organization ever tempted you? Academic veterinary hospitals are great places to work. Longtime staff have scores of student, house officer, and faculty friends they’ve made over the years while fulfilling the three missions of the college – teaching, patient care and research. As a valuable member of our eight-technician, eight-house officer, eight-faculty section, you will image large and small animal patients guiding students and house officers on technical learning. As you grow, expect to learn diagnostic modalities beyond radiography. We love working in our collaborative hospital where clinicians, hospital staff and trainees work together to provide excellent, cutting-edge patient care. If you are a young, eager technician, we’d love to mentor you and if you are looking for a change, we’d love to work with you to create the job and career that you love. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Work with board-certified veterinary radiologists and residents in teaching image acquisition and quality control to our DVM students. Attain high quality radiographs on a wide variety of animals including dogs, cats, horses, cows, goats, sheep, pigs and exotic pets like rabbits and bearded dragons. Ability to acquire the technical skills of non-radiographic modalities including nuclear medicine, CT and MRI, as your veterinary radiography skills mature. Complete imaging orders and manage PACS for our busy caseload including ultrasounds, CT scans, MRI, nuclear medicine scans and I-131 cats. Work with our two full-time biomedical engineers to maintain and replace diagnostic imaging equipment. Shape the future of veterinary care and education through collaboration with other specialty services while working with a range of patients and disease processes. Employees working in the hospital must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department. Required Qualifications Associate degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited program or an associate degree and ARRT certification and 1-3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
