Veterinary Technician/Assistant Location:
Cochranton, PA, 16314 Job Summary Cochranton Veterinary Hospital is looking for a technician to add to our team! We are a busy 3 doctor practice in the suburbs of Cochranton, PA. A licensed technician is preferred but not required to apply. We are looking for a candidate with at least 1-3 years of experience in the veterinary field. The Veterinary Technician will assist the veterinarian in providing medical care to animals. They will perform various tasks such as administering medication, taking digital radiographs, and collecting blood samples. The Veterinary Technician will also be responsible for maintaining medical records and communicating with pet owners. Skills and Qualifications Graduate of an accredited veterinary technology program (Preferred but not required) Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) preferred but not required. Experience working in a veterinary clinic or hospital for at least 1-3 years. Knowledge of animal behavior and handling Ability to perform basic medical procedures such as administering medication and taking x-rays Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both verbal and written form Precise and thorough patient triage for routine and sick appointment visits Demonstrate knowledge of recommended flea/tick/heartworm preventatives Demonstrate knowledge and guidelines of commonly used pharmaceuticals and other pharmacy products Prep ear, blood, and urine specimens for diagnostic purposes Properly administer and apply medications including intramuscular, intravenous, and subcutaneous Proficient in intravenous catheterization Perform diagnostic imaging with minimal assistance from the veterinarian Administering anesthesia, including induction, intubation, maintenance and recovery, and intravenous sedation Perform cardiac monitoring Perform dental prophylaxis Ability to work independently or in a team environment Demonstrate leadership by being a consistent self-starter and go-getter! Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel Ability to work in a noisy environment
