We are looking for a full time, creative, and upbeat Licensed Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join the best veterinary hospital in coastal South Carolina. Port Royal Veterinary Hospital (PRVH) is on the Atlantic coast between Charleston and Savannah in a brand-new huge state-of-the-art facility with a kick-ass surgery and imaging suite. Our treatment area gives patients and staff lots of room to work. Our hospital requires an experienced, dedicated candidate to join our full-time staff. The right candidate will possess the ability to work independently and be familiar with performing basic veterinary tasks including treating animals, preparing them for surgery, monitoring anesthesia levels, ensuring the safety of the hospital environment, maintaining sterile conditions and developing a smooth workflow within the hospital. The successful candidate will also be comfortable working in a dynamic environment with a variety of responsibilities.
- Perform animal restraint during examinations and procedures
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals
- Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
- Collect and process laboratory samples for testing
- Perform xrays and other diagnostic imaging procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the hospital
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and treatment plans
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or long term experience in the industry
- Strong knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and behavior
- Proficiency in animal restraint techniques and handling with fear free tactics
- Experience with animal catheterization and aseptic technique
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well in a team environment
