- workingsupervisory position
- responsible for the leadership of the medicalteam
- under the mentorship of the Practice Manager.
While previousleadership experience is not required, it is preferred.
This personwill be responsible for:
directing on-the-job training to developemployee skills, advising employees of performance requirements andtheir progress in meeting those requirements, discussing correctivemeasures to improve performance and prepare appraisals. This personwill also provide direction for efficient work flow, assist withonboarding newly hired staff members, and assist in staffingschedules and adjusting coverage where needed. The other portion ofthis job includes working on the floor with the team completingveterinary technician duties, which includes (but is not limitedto): animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection andanalysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursingcare of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees ofstability, administration of medications, effective communicationof treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation andassistance, and anesthetic management.
Qualifications We’re LookingFor:
A Licensed Veterinary Technician with 3+ years veterinaryexperience preferred. Strong leadership, communication, andmotivational skills. A team player that works well with all teammembers to ensure that their actions support the hospital, thedoctors, and the practice philosophy. Has the ability to direct,guide, and assist a group of individuals, as well as a desire toteach others to create a well-rounded team. Comprehensive knowledgeof veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospitaloperations Knowledge of spelling and meaning of commonly usedveterinary terminology (e.g., terms of anatomy, physiology,diseases, tests, etc.) to accurately enter specific informationinto patient records. Expertise in safe and low-stress animalrestraint techniques. Proficiency in various sample collectionmethods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens.
Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture.
Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring. Aself-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledgeand skillset. Ability to show unbiased judgment when managingpeople and make fair and just recommendations regarding personnelissues and/or disciplinary action. Ability to receive constructivefeedback in a professional manner to maintain hospital efficiency.
Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicateprecisely. A high work ethic and positive attitude team member.
Highly organized and possess computer skills. Commitment toprofessional ethics and continuous learning. Ability to work in afast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards. Theideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertiseand unwavering commitment to animal welfare in a dynamic veterinarysetting.
