Vision Vets For Pets is the premier independently owned and operated veterinary eye clinic in East Tennessee, scheduled to open in Summer 2025. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will provide exceptional care and support in our veterinary ophthalmology clinic, ensuring the health and well-being of our patients while delivering superior client service. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
  • Assist the veterinarian during ophthalmic examinations, surgeries, and procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic tests, including ocular imaging and laboratory procedures.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Monitor patients pre- and post-operatively, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Educate pet owners on eye health, treatment plans, and preventive care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Ensure a clean and organized clinical environment, adhering to safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to provide excellent patient care and client communication.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability to be confident around pets (eg, cats and dogs)
  • Client needs and work volume may require more than 40 hours per week. This position may require working weekends and evenings on occasion, although this is expected to be infrequent.
  • The noise level in the work environment may occasionally be high (eg, barking dogs).
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
  • Requires ambulatory ability sufficient to perform duties while at the clinic.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to reach and grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read information.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Veterinary technicians are routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.
  • As the business expands, travel may be required to new clinic locations.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND/OR TRAINING
  • Valid state license as a Veterinary Technician in Tennessee.
  • Strong knowledge of small animal veterinary practice, with prior ophthalmology experience preferred but not essential.
  • Competence in small animal general anesthesia monitoring, with prior specialty experience preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Compassion for animals and a commitment to their welfare.
