Job Description

Due to continued growth, The Agency is seeking enthusiastic and skilled Commercial Lines Account Managers at various levels of experience to join our talented client.

Job Summary:

The Commercial Lines Account Manager is responsible for managing and servicing a portfolio of commercial insurance accounts, building strong client relationships, and ensuring client retention. This role involves providing proactive and efficient support, understanding client business needs, and collaborating with insurance carriers to secure appropriate coverage. Responsibilities (vary based on experience level):

Client Management:

Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned commercial clients. Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients. Understand clients’ business operations and identify their insurance needs. Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries, requests, and concerns via phone, email, and in person. Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring client satisfaction and retention.

Policy Servicing:

Manage the renewal process for existing commercial accounts. Process policy changes, endorsements, cancellations, and audits accurately and efficiently. Prepare and issue certificates of insurance, binders, and other related documentation. Review policy documents for accuracy and ensure they meet client needs. Assist clients with the claims process, providing guidance and support. Marketing and Placement (more advanced levels): Collaborate with producers to develop insurance programs for new and existing clients. Prepare and present insurance proposals to clients. Market accounts to insurance carriers to obtain competitive quotes and coverage. Analyze and compare carrier quotes and coverage options. Negotiate with underwriters to secure favorable terms and conditions.

Administrative Tasks:

Maintain accurate and organized client files and records in the agency management system. Document all client interactions and communications. Follow agency procedures and workflows to ensure compliance and efficiency. Assist with premium billing inquiries and reconciliation. Prepare reports and summaries as needed.

Professional Development:

Stay up-to-date on industry trends, market changes, and new insurance products. Participate in continuing education and training to maintain required licenses and enhance knowledge. Mentorship and Leadership (senior levels): Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members. Assist in the development and implementation of best practices. Potentially lead specific projects or initiatives. Qualifications (vary based on experience level):

Entry-Level:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills. Detail-oriented and able to multitask. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to learn and adapt quickly. Interest in pursuing a career in commercial insurance. Property & Casualty insurance license preferred, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.

Mid-Level:

5+ years of experience in commercial lines insurance account management or related insurance experience. Valid Property & Casualty insurance license required. Solid understanding of commercial insurance products and processes. Proven ability to manage client relationships effectively. Proficiency in using agency management systems (e.g., Applied Epic, AMS360) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Senior-Level:

8 + years of progressive experience in commercial lines insurance account management. Valid Property & Casualty insurance license required. In-depth knowledge of commercial insurance products, markets, and underwriting principles. Demonstrated success in managing complex accounts and building strong client partnerships. Excellent negotiation and marketing skills. Proven ability to work independently and lead projects. Experience mentoring or training junior staff preferred. Industry designations such as

CIC, CPCU, ARM

preferred.
