Operations Manager Taylor Rental Sudbury, MA 01776 The Operations Manager has strong leadership qualities, exceptional operational discipline, and a service-first mindset. This is a hands-on role, requiring active involvement in daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will be responsible for overseeing daily store activities, managing a team, ensuring top-tier customer service, and maintaining equipment readiness for rental. They will lead staff scheduling, inventory control, vendor coordination, and resolution of customer issues. They will have a background in retail, rental, or equipment management, with strong leadership skills and a customer-first mindset. Key Responsibilities Store Operations Management Oversee daily operations to ensure the store runs efficiently, professionally, and profitably. Ensure all rental equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and safely displayed for customers. Implement operational best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Maintain accurate inventory records for both rental and retail items and manage shortages or overages. Organize and manage delivery schedules, pickup logistics, and equipment reservations. Ensure facility cleanliness, organization, and safety protocols are always upheld. Manage opening and closing duties, including cash reconciliation and end-of-day reporting. Team Leadership & Development Interview, and hire store personnel (counter staff, yard workers, drivers, technicians). Train team members on product knowledge, rental procedures, safety, and customer interaction. Foster a team-oriented culture with a focus on accountability, respect, and customer satisfaction. Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and support employee growth and retention. Customer Relations & Sales Ensure exceptional customer service through training, supervision, and personal example. Handle escalated customer issues, complaints, or billing questions promptly and professionally. Educate customers on the proper use of equipment and ensure all safety procedures are communicated. Support and participate in local marketing efforts to attract contractors, homeowners, and event organizers. Build relationships with repeat clients and business partners to drive loyalty and referrals. Financial Oversight Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance; meet or exceed revenue and profit goals. Maintain budget discipline around labor, inventory, and operating expenses. Review P&L reports and make adjustments to staffing, inventory, or pricing as needed. Handle petty cash, deposits, and cash register balancing. Qualifications & Experience 3+ years of experience in retail, rental, logistics, or equipment management preferred. Proven experience managing a team, preferably in a fast-paced service environment. Familiarity with rental equipment, party/event supplies, power tools, or light construction equipment a strong plus. Mechanical aptitude or comfort working around equipment, with a willingness to learn basic diagnostics and maintenance. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and rental/POS software. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask, delegate, and manage time effectively in a high-volume environment. Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL a plus). Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and assist in loading/unloading equipment as needed. High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
