Full Job Description Position Summary:

WRAL-TV is seeking a driven, detail-oriented Junior Key Account Executive to support and grow a portfolio of agency and local advertiser business. This entry-level position is ideal for someone with prior television sales experience who is ready to level up and tackle a mix of account management, client strategy, and multiplatform selling. You’ll be on the front lines negotiating linear TV buys, building integrated campaigns with WRAL’s premium digital assets, and managing high-profile events like the Olympics, NFL, and Super Bowl. This is a high-accountability, high-opportunity role.

Key Responsibilities:

Account Management (50%) Serve as day-to-day point of contact for assigned agencies and local clients Ensure flawless execution of TV buys – from order entry to campaign launch and final post Monitor preemptions, program changes, and makegoods to preserve client value and station revenue Collaborate with traffic, production, digital, and research teams to ensure all campaign deliverables are on time and accurate Regularly provide post-buy reporting, delivery insights, and stewardship updates to clients Sponsorship & Tentpole Event Sales (20%) Sell above-and-beyond packages tied to WRAL’s tentpole events (Super Bowl, NFL, Olympics, etc.) Create custom sponsorships and integrations tailored to client goals Leverage WRAL’s premium content calendar to upsell existing accounts into high-impact brand extensions Work closely with creative services and promotions teams to execute custom activations Digital Integration (10%) Understand and sell WRAL’s owned & operated digital inventory (display, video, OTT/CTV, native) Incorporate digital into traditional buys to deliver cross-platform campaigns that align with client KPIs Learn audience targeting tools, 1st and 3rd party data strategies, and WRAL’s digital fulfillment workflow Stay up-to-date on ad tech, measurement, and evolving media consumption habits New Business Development (20%) Proactively prospect for new accounts with an emphasis on locally owned and operated businesses Build and maintain a strong pipeline through CRM discipline, AI tools, and consistent outreach Pitch WRAL’s unique multiplatform value proposition to new advertisers unfamiliar with legacy TV Present confidently and close deals, often in competitive situations

Qualifications:

1-2 years of experience in television sales, either as a Sales Assistant, Coordinator, or Junior AE Strong working knowledge of linear TV media planning, Nielsen data, and agency negotiation cycles Understanding of digital media including OTT/CTV, display, pre-roll, and branded content Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident presenter Obsessively detail-oriented, with a passion for client service Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Self-starter mentality with a team-first mindset Familiarity with WideOrbit, Matrix, Scarborough, or similar tools is a plus
