Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and technically adept Account Manager to manage key customer relationships in the custom precision optics sector. This role combines proactive account management, focusing on expanding our customer base, deepening client relationships, and supporting the successful delivery of complex, build-to-print optical components. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, strong technical communication skills, and a customer-first mindset to support mission-critical programs in industries such as aerospace, defense, semiconductor, biomedical, and research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, building deep, long-term relationships through consistent, high-value engagement.
- Understand each customer’s technical requirements, project timelines, and business goals to proactively manage expectations and drive mutual success.
- Support quoting and proposal development by providing accurate customer insights and collaborating with internal teams to deliver competitive, technically sound solutions.
- Lead account planning efforts, including regular reviews, performance tracking, and strategic growth discussions with key stakeholders.
- Identify new opportunities within key accounts by understanding the full scope of customer applications and future needs.
- Track and report on key account KPIs, forecasting revenue and contributing to broader sales and operational planning.
- Represent the company at industry events and customer site visits to reinforce relationships and stay informed on emerging customer needs and trends.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the precision optics industry, customer applications, and competitor capabilities to position the company as a strategic partner. Qualifications (Education & Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree; technical discipline strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in technical sales, business development, or account management, ideally within a precision manufacturing environment.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and responsive, with a strong sense of ownership and demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel for customer meetings, trade shows, and international partner support as needed.
- Experience with government and defense contracting is a plus.
- Familiarity with
ISO 9001/AS9100
environments and quality standards preferred.
- Working familiarity with export and compliance requirements such as ITAR, DFARS, and CMMC preferred.
- Experience with ERP and CRM systems is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Must be able occasionally lift/carry up to 15 pounds
