Job Details Job Location West TN Healthcare Henry County – Paris, TN Position Type FT 80 Education Level High School/GED Job Shift Days Job Category Health Care Description The Patient Account Representative Physician Clinic is responsible for assigned patient accounts associated with HCMC employed providers within the medical center, the medical arts building, and satellite locations. The representative must take responsibility for billing and collection work required on patient accounts, including submitting claims to appropriate clearing houses or insurance carriers, posting and applying insurance payments, answering patient billing questions, contacting third party payers regarding denials, and completing other monthly accounting, billing and reconciliation procedures. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
General:
Maintains a safe environment for patients, families, general public and staff Demonstrates effective communication skills and excellent customer service Carries out duties as assigned by supervisor.. Is available for other office duties such as patient scheduling, answering phones, and light cleaning. Primary Duties to include as assigned: Posts office and surgery charges in Electronic Medical Record and submits charges to insurance carriers. Posts cash or check payments into accounts Follows up on outstanding claims by calling insurance companies and/or patients. Advises physician clinic partners and providers as to errors or information needed to process claims. Works with patients on any billing or collections questions, sets up patient payment plans as needed, makes recommendations for adjustment or payment plans to Billing Supervisor or Director as needed. Identifies and reports patterns of errors in claims or billing to Billing Supervisor. Downloads electronic remits from insurance companies with whom we are enrolled to receive electronic payments. Posts payments into the physician practice EMR. Collects paper remits/checks via mail and posts into the physician practice system. Ensures at the end of each month that all payments are posted and all EFT’s are claimed. Works with Accounting to balance Physician Practice for the previous month and works A/R queue as required Mails private patient statements as needed. Answers patient phone calls as required.
Secondary Duties:
Assists front desk with patient check in, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, coordinating referrals, and answering phones. Receives and transmits patient medical records as needed Collects patient payments and posts in practice management software as able
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or GED. Able to use/learn electronic and computer-based patient management and health information software and hardware as requested.
RequirementsforPerformance:

Experience:
1-2 years hospital, pharmacy, or physician practice billing and collections strongly preferred
Physical & Mental Demands:
Mentally and physically healthy; strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Reception must be able to sit for several hours consecutively
Regulatory:
