Editing Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Development Associate plays a vital role at Friends Center for Children by supporting all facets of the organization’s development efforts. This includes social media, annual fund campaigns, planned giving, corporate and foundation proposals, major gift planning, events, and alumni engagement. The Development Associate reports to the Executive Director and contributes to all areas of the Development department, including the Annual Fund, Major Gifts, Capital Campaign, and Communications.

40 hours per week, with some evening and occasional weekend hours
Salary Range:
$48,000-$57,000 (depending on qualifications)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Development Associate’s responsibilities span three key areas: Social Media (25%) Event Planning & Coordination (25%) Fundraising & Development (50%) Leadership, in collaboration with the
Associate Director of Annual Giving and Events:
Social Media (25%) Implement a social media strategy promoting the mission and values of Friends Center Create engaging, mission-aligned content for all platforms (including photos, stories, updates) Monitor analytics and adjust strategies to improve reach and engagement Ensure social media content aligns with broader marketing and development goals Events (25%) Support signature events, including the annual Birthday Party, Professional Council event, Quaker Advisory Council event, New Haven Family Stroll, and fundraising gatherings Manage logistics, vendor coordination, event promotion, and post-event follow-up Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and partners to ensure the successful execution of events Support community engagement and visibility through events Development (50%) Support all fundraising initiatives, including the Annual Fund, Major Gifts, Planned Giving, and Capital Campaign Conduct donor and prospect research to support fundraising strategy Prepare reports for the Associate Director of Annual Giving and Events Review and organize institutional communications such as appeal letters, newsletters, press releases, and the annual report Process and acknowledge all donations and manage donor records using the Giftworks database With the support of the Associate Director of Annual Giving and Events, develop and grow alumni and parent engagement programs Attend regional and national meetings for professional development and networking as directed by the Associate Director of Annual Giving and Events Participate in all staff meetings and parent gatherings to stay informed and engaged in school life as directed by the
Associate Director of Annual Giving and Events Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships Excellent writing and editing capabilities Self-motivated with strong organizational and planning skills Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines Proficiency in donor database management Keen attention to detail and follow-through

Board of Directors Requirements:
