Known for dynamic performances, artist collaborations, and deep community engagement, we are redefining what an orchestra can be. We have commissioned 22 new works by living and emerging composers and collaborated with artists such as Jacob Collier, Wyclef Jean, Masego, J’nai Bridges, and Ben Folds. Our education programs have reached more than 128,000 K-8 students—90% of whom attend Title 1 schools—and we annually provide free concert access to over 3,000 students in person and 10,000 virtually. Digitally, we rank among the most followed orchestras in the U.S., with a growing global audience across platforms. As we grow, we’re looking for a Development Associate who is passionate about the arts, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to delivering an exceptional donor experience. Position Summary The Development Associate plays a vital role in advancing donor communications, stewardship, data integrity, and the front-of-house experience. This highly service-oriented position is responsible for ensuring all gifts are promptly processed and acknowledged, that donors feel genuinely appreciated, and that members receive exceptional support—both online and in person. This role requires someone with strong writing and communication skills, a sharp eye for visuals, and the ability to coordinate seamlessly with our staff and consulting partners to maintain a cohesive donor experience across all touchpoints. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, detail-oriented, and polished communicator—someone equally comfortable behind a CRM dashboard or greeting major donors at a concert. Key Responsibilities Gift Processing & Acknowledgment Enter and track gifts in PatronManager with speed and accuracy. Ensure all donations are entered and acknowledged within 24-48 hours of receipt. Maintain accurate donor records, generate acknowledgment letters, and support donor recognition efforts. Pull reports from PatronManager as needed. Donor Stewardship & Communications Implement a year-round donor stewardship calendar with multiple personalized touchpoints. Draft compelling thank-you notes, impact updates, and other personalized donor communications. Collaborate with Blackbox and the Membership Director to support e-blasts, visuals, and printed materials. Create donor-facing cultivation and stewardship materials that align with Nu Deco’s brand. Ticket Concierge & Front-of-House Experience Serve as the primary ticketing concierge for approximately 100 board members, donors, and members. Manage seating requests, ticket allocations, and timely performance reminders. Oversee front-of-house operations for members at concerts—greeting guests, resolving ticketing issues, and ensuring a welcoming, high-touch experience. Event & Administrative Support Assist with logistics for cultivation and stewardship events. Support the Membership Director and Interim Executive Director with special projects and donor-related tasks. Help maintain high standards of service and consistency across all development touchpoints. Qualifications 1-2 years of experience in fundraising, box office, customer service, or ticketing. Experience with CRM systems, PatronManager preferred. Experience with Canva, Slack, and Google Suite preferred. Excellent writing, attention to detail, organizational, and communications skills Strong interpersonal communication and a donor-first attitude. Ability to remain calm and gracious in fast-paced, live-event environments. Must be available to attend and actively participate in all concerts, special events, and educational programming. Ideal Candidate Attributes Warm, welcoming, and polished, someone who instinctively puts others at ease. Self-motivated and quick to learn systems and processes. Finds joy in being helpful, responsive, and dependable. Values efficiency, professionalism, and delivering a thoughtful experience for every donor.
