This individual will contribute to content creation, customer engagement, event coverage, and internal communications, while also supporting public relations efforts. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced environment. They should demonstrate strong communication skills, a creative eye for photography and video, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. Essential Functions Scheduling and publishing posts across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Monitor public comments and community engagement, responding or escalating where appropriate. Monitoring and responding to customer service inquiries via direct messages and review platforms such as Yelp, TripAdvisor, Google, and social media messenger tools. Escalate when appropriate. Creating and formatting monthly blogs and other content for the OSC website using WordPress. Monitoring marketing materials in on-site and off-site locations, coordinating the replenishment of materials as needed, including distribution of Science for All materials at multiple locations. Assisting the Social Media & PR Specialist with social media content creation, including copywriting, photo/video editing, and post scheduling. Supporting the Social Media & PR Specialist with the creation of brand photography and videography for social media and website use, with an eye for composition and storytelling. Open to training and creative direction. Supporting the Senior Manager, Digital Marketing, with formatting and scheduling e-blast content via Constant Contact. Coordinating in-house communication for events and experiences through input and management of graphics, web, and marketing requests. Capturing photography and video during onsite weekend events to support real-time social media and promotional efforts. Supporting the Marketing Department in coordinating and staffing off-site festivals and events, such as Kids Fringe, Maker Faire, the ZORA! Festival, Kids & Family Expo, and others as needed. Assisting with PR-related tasks as needed, including press releases, collaborating with news media, and helping to disseminate media kits. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Education:

Earned or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or another related field.

Experience & Certifications :

N/A Preferred Qualifications Experience using Facebook’s Meta Business Suite, HootSuite, and other social media platforms. Experience using WordPress. Experience using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, or other related internal communications platforms. Strong computer skills, with experience using PC operating systems. Confident using or willing to learn to use a DSLR camera. Should be comfortable appearing on camera as a representative of the Science Center, primarily on social media platforms. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to take initiative, problem-solve independently, and remain proactive in dynamic situations. Able to manage multiple simultaneous deadlines while staying organized, adaptable, and detail oriented. Supervisory Responsibility N/A Physical Demands Ability to remain in a stationary position. Moves throughout the museum. Ascends/descends stairs throughout the museum. Observes and reacts to the needs of guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners. Communicates and exchanges accurate information with guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners in a variety of formats including in-person, electronically, and over the phone. Operates a computer and/or office equipment efficiently and accurately. Manipulates and moves components weighing up to 50 pounds, including those that may be low to the ground or above eye level. Occasionally works in outdoor environments. Frequently works in indoor environments. Coping with demands and stresses associated with job and work environment. Kneeling and Crouching (occasionally) Weight Levels – Lift, Push, Pull Up to 50 pounds Expected Hours of Work The Marketing Department is involved with promoting all Orlando Science Center exhibits, experiences and events and days and hours will fluctuate as needed. This position will operate primarily Tuesday – Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Travel Travel throughout the Central Florida area to support offsite events and delivering materials as well as potentially attend conferences/trainings. Telecommuting This position is required to be onsite 100% of the time.
