Job Description

Development Coordinator (Must have 1-3 years experience in fundraising, development, or marketing) Talbot House Ministries 814 North Kentucky Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33801 Talbot House Ministries is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Development Coordinator to support fundraising and marketing initiatives that further our mission of serving individuals experiencing homelessness. This position plays a key role in donor stewardship, event coordination, and external communications, and works closely with the Director of Development to build meaningful relationships and grow community support.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Development Support Assist in the execution of the organization’s annual fundraising plan Manage donor database (Bloomerang), including gift entry, donor acknowledgments, and contact updates Support grant tracking and donor reporting Coordinate logistics for donor appreciation, events, and outreach campaigns Conduct donor research and maintain donor prospect lists Assist with sponsorship fulfillment and recognition 2. Marketing & Communications Assist with developing content for social media, newsletters, website, and printed materials Maintain a content calendar for promotions and events Help design flyers, graphics, and donor communications (in Canva or similar platforms) Capture stories and testimonials for use in marketing and development pieces Support coordination of tours, speaking engagements, and community outreach events 3. Administrative & Cross-Functional Help prepare materials and presentations for board, donor, or public meetings Maintain organized digital and physical records Support volunteer engagement and community partnerships as needed Key Performance Indicators Donor Acknowledgment Turnaround Ensure all donor gifts are acknowledged with thank-you letters or receipts within 48 hours of receipt. Event & Campaign Support Successfully assist in the coordination of at least 3 major fundraising events or campaigns annually, meeting established timelines and engagement goals. Database Accuracy & Management Maintain 95% accuracy in donor data entry and contact information within Bloomerang or donor management system. Marketing Engagement Growth Contribute to a 10-15% increase in digital engagement (social media interactions, email open/click rates, website visits) through content and campaign support. Donor Retention Support Help improve donor retention by ensuring consistent donor communication , including quarterly newsletters and impact updates.

Education and Background:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, or a related field preferred 1-3 years of experience in fundraising, development, or marketing (nonprofit experience preferred) Strong written and verbal communication skills Familiarity with donor databases (Bloomerang a plus) Proficiency in Microsoft Office and marketing tools (Canva, Mailchimp, etc.) Highly organized with excellent attention to detail Self-starter who thrives in a mission-driven, collaborative environment Physical and Special Requirements

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to occasionally travel to other locations for business reasons.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle.
  • Hiring requirements include a criminal records background check clearance.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position 50-75 percent of the time.
  • Ability to move throughout the office to access file cabinets, printers, etc.
  • Ability to operate computer and other office machinery.
  • Ability to observe details at close range, communicate and exchange accurate information and express oneself so others will understand.
  • Ability to move items weighing up to 20 pounds.
