This role requires a strong understanding of public relations, media relations, and social media management, along with excellent writing and public speaking skills. The Public Relations Marketing Coordinator will work closely with various departments to ensure consistent messaging and promote marketing for fourteen branches located in five county service areas. Responsibilities Develops, executes, directs, and evaluates system-wide marketing and promotion strategies based on First Regional Library’s mission. Designs and directs internal and external efforts to promote Library services and programming using public relations, marketing, branding, media relations, outreach and community relations to reach the Library’s various communities, including county residents, the media, diverse user groups, local organizations, businesses, community partners, area leadership and library staff. Serves as official liaison to the press, acting as spokesperson on issues affecting the Library and is available to assist the staff and media, including performing and coordinating interviews under the direction of the Library Director. Plans, organizes, supervises, promotes, coordinates and creates events relating to departmental activities, such as large scale author events, honoree events, grand openings, theme celebrations, and special library programs or events. Prepares presentations for public speaking engagements, representing the organization at events and conferences, such as community groups (Chamber of Commerce, local governmental meetings, etc.) and Friends of the Library meetings. Exercises good judgment to represent the library when initiating or responding to print and broadcast media, including participating in and setting up interviews, providing written information and developing publicity, advertisements and miscellaneous information for external communications in coordination with the Library Director. Manages branding of all FRL-related content for traditional, digital, and social media, including overseeing design and messaging, developing the best outlets for distribution, identifying key audiences and how to reach them and ensuring the best way to promote Library products, services, and programs. Maintains confidentiality in the execution of all duties for the library system. Manages and oversees the FRL Facebook page and other social media accounts such as Instagram, X, LinkedIn, etc. Manages and update the FRL website on a timely basis. Manages the creation and production of any and all printed materials that reflect the First Regional Library “brand”—flyers, posters, logos, brochures, book lists, etc. Works with headquarters and branch library staff to develop and maintain a positive working relationship with all local media outlets. Advises all staff on publicity materials. Is available for consultation and instruction on related computer programs and equipment. Creates original designs and artwork for the library system. Makes marketing and signage recommendations to branch personnel. Supervises and approves submissions to the Library’s online calendar of events. Represents the library system at conferences and at other community events. Communicates and works with library personnel statewide and nationwide on public relation concerns. Reviews and maintains files of library system’s appearances in the media. Maintains the Library’s collection of digital images of library events and programs. Assists with grant writing, adult programming and other events. May manage a branch or department as directed by the Director or Board of Trustees. Experience with digital photography and desktop publishing programs essential. A portfolio displaying graphic experience and writing samples. Typically work Monday- Friday, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that occasionally includes evenings and weekends as required due to library events Performs other duties as assigned or required. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or related field. Minimum of two years’ experience in public libraries in the area of public relations and marketing or have successful work in a similar environment preferred.
