Tourism Sales Manager II – Group Meetings and Sports 2.9 2.9 out of 5 stars Naples, FL Job Summary Provides professional sales and technical support to the products and services of the Tourism Development Division. Essential Functions Develops, monitors, and evaluates annual sales solicitation programs with appropriate budget for both international and domestic groups, wholesale, corporate and leisure businesses; these sales programs should be driven by research and complement the media relations and advertising programs. Coordinates all promotions, planning, and management of familiarization tours in compliance with marketing plans. Monitors and follows-up on sales leads that can result in increased business for Collier County tourism. Develops and maintains strong professional relations with the local accommodations and attractions industries. Initiates sales contacts by phone, mail, e-mail and in person to qualify and establish relationships with prospective clients. Schedules and attends trade shows, industry functions and other events as directed. Assists Division Director in analyzing key market statistics in development of top producing and opportunity markets. Coordinate sales presentations, site inspections, and sales blitzes to showcase Collier County in key tourism markets. Coordinate maintenance of sales tools inventories including collateral and promotional items. Initiates sales contacts by phone, mail, e-mail and in person to qualify and establish relationships with prospective client; create, monitor and follow up on sales leads that can result in increased business for Collier County tourism. Provides meeting planners with information about all County resorts/hotels that meet the planner’s specific needs and act as liaison between the planners and the hotel community. Schedules and attends trade shows, industry functions and other events as directed. As Assigned to Group Sales Develops, monitors, and evaluates the annual group sales plan with appropriate budgets for both domestic and international group meetings; these sales programs should be driven by research and complement the Division’s media relations and advertising programs. Plans and annually attends tourism and group meeting promotional activities including trade shows and conferences; identifies and develops new markets and grows existing markets with input and coordination with the local tourism industry; coordinate sales presentations, site inspections, and sales missions and other opportunities to showcase Collier County in key tourism markets as a group meetings destination. Creates, facilitates, and coordinates maintenance of sales tool inventories including collateral and promotional items. Creates, monitors, and follows up on group sales leads that can result in increased visitation from group meeting attendees; develops and maintains strong professional relations with the local accommodations and attractions in Collier County. Initiates sales contacts by phone, mail, e-mail, and in-person to qualify and establish relationships with prospective group meeting planners; plans, schedules, and attends group meeting trade shows, industry conferences and other events as outlined in the annual group meeting sales plan. Involved in committee and membership representation in tourism industry groups and trade organizations; creates and makes presentations to groups holding meetings in Collier County as a host and sponsor. Provides meeting planners with information about all County resorts and hotels that meet the planner’s specific needs and acts as liaison between the planner and all tourism related companies in the community. As Assigned to Sports Business Development Develops, monitors, and evaluates annual sales solicitation programs with appropriate budget for both international and domestic sports and athletic groups, events, tournament, and meetings; these sales programs should be driven by research and complement the media relations and advertising programs. Oversees management and solicitation of all Collier County owned, contracted, and bid sports and special events. Works closely with the applicable County Division Directors and staff in planning, attracting, and hosting sports-related annual meetings, and other events in Collier County; coordinates staffing and volunteers for all sports tourism events. Coordinates all promotions, planning, and management of sports familiarization tours in compliance with marketing plans. Responsible for planning and acquiring sporting events that meet the needs of Collier County facilities that occur at the times of the year our tourism industry most needs the business. Directs the preparation and distribution of press releases and articles for local, regional, and national newspapers, periodicals, and sports related journals. Creates annual sports sales plan, assists, and makes marketing recommendations and for advertising placement in print and digital publications. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. Three (3) years of related experience. Candidates without a degree should possess four (4) additional years of related experience. Fingerprinting required. Supplemental information Salary offers above the minimum of the pay grade may be considered based on qualifications. Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the County’s Administrative Office will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
