Full Job Description Job Summary:

The Vice President of Business Development will lead Kaufman Lynn Construction’s strategic growth across Florida’s West Coast. This role encompasses overseeing business development strategies for both public and private sector projects, focusing on sectors such as government/public safety, education, healthcare, multifamily housing, and senior living. The position involves cultivating relationships, identifying high-value opportunities, and driving pursuit execution .

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Market Development Develop and implement business development initiatives for both public and private sector markets across the region. Utilize knowledge of government procurement processes, municipal capital plans, and private sector trends to identify and prioritize opportunities. Conduct market research and economic analysis to guide strategic entry into new sectors or municipalities. Participate in strategic planning with executive leadership to shape the firm’s regional growth. Public & Private Sector Engagement Establish and maintain relationships with public agency leaders, elected officials, private developers, architects, and consultants. Lead teaming and joint venture strategies, particularly for public sector projects. Engage in industry associations, attend public meetings, and monitor municipal agendas to stay informed about upcoming opportunities. Oversee proposal development and ensure compliance for public sector bids and prequalification efforts. Client & Community Relations Act as a key representative of Kaufman Lynn Construction in the region, attending events, trade shows, and community functions to enhance visibility and foster relationships. Identify and promote employee participation on boards and in civic organizations aligned with the company’s interests. Coordinate involvement in regional events such as groundbreakings, ribbon-cuttings, and sponsorships. Internal & Cross-Functional Leadership Foster collaboration between Marketing, Preconstruction, Estimating, and Operations teams to ensure cohesive pursuit strategies. Develop and manage business development budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources. Support the Marketing team in messaging, branding, media relations, and award submissions to enhance the company’s profile. Systems & Reporting Ensure accurate and effective use of CRM data (Cosential) for actionable intelligence and reporting. Enhance internal reporting systems to track key performance indicators for business development success.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years of construction business development experience, with a successful track record in both public and private sectors. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Comprehensive understanding of Florida’s public procurement processes and compliance requirements. Established network of contacts within public agencies and private development communities across the West Coast of Florida. Strong leadership and strategic planning skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in public speaking and relationship-building. Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Cosential), Microsoft Office Suite, and proposal development software.
