Job Description

Business Development Leader 3.1 3.1 out of 5 stars Florida Owen Electric Company is seeking a strategic, results-driven Business Development Leader to spearhead our Get Work initiative. This individual will play a critical role in expanding our client base, strengthening relationships, and driving growth across the Southeastern U.S. market. This is more than a sales role — it’s about developing lasting partnerships, uncovering opportunities, and positioning Owen Electric Company as the electrical contractor of choice for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Market Development:

Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities that align with company goals in target markets across the Southeast.

Relationship Building:

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, developers, owners, engineering firms, and other industry stakeholders.

Pipeline Ownership:

Lead the front-end of the business development process — from early engagement and prequalification through proposal and contract award.

Market Intelligence:

Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and market dynamics to inform strategic pursuits and maintain a competitive edge.

Collaborative Leadership:

Partner with internal estimating, operations, and executive teams to align project pursuits with company capacity, capabilities, and growth strategy.

Brand Representation:

Represent Owen Electric at industry events, trade shows, association meetings, and client functions to enhance market visibility and reputation.

Qualifications:

Proven track record (10+ years) of successful business development experience in the construction, electrical contracting, or related industries. Deep knowledge of the Southeastern U.S. construction market and established relationships within the region preferred. Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities — able to engage and influence at all levels. Self-starter with the discipline to work independently and collaboratively. Ability to travel regionally as required.
