The Air Force Account Manager is primarily accountable foridentification and qualification of business developmentopportunities to assist in the development of a qualified pipelinenecessary to meet or exceed the company’s forecast and plan.
Individual will also work closely with Operations, Capture andProposal personnel to transition to, and assist when necessary,successful capture and proposal development. In addition, thisindividual will plan and recommend BD and marketing strategies toachieve maximum customer and market penetration and to drivetactical and strategic growth.
Essential Job Functions:
Proactivelyidentify new business opportunities. Maintain a pipeline thatsupports sector growth objectives for key pipeline metrics. Performmarket research to qualify new business opportunities, includinganalysis of customer budgets, capabilities required, currentcustomer preferences, competitive environment assessments, andincumbent strengths and weaknesses. Plan, coordinate and conductmeetings with customers, competitors, clients, and teammates todevelop market insight on requirements, acquisition strategy,acquisition timing, and contract vehicle choices. Review currentmarket trends and propose new business opportunities and ideas toimprove revenue (both tactical and strategic) Participate asrequired in the DCS business development process, includingpipeline reviews, opportunity gate reviews, black hat sessions,successful transition to capture and proposal phases, assist withcapture and proposal development. The Business Development managerwill be responsible for initial identification, validation andqualification efforts including development of key artifactsleading to a successful capture gate decision. Collaborate withBusiness Development (Account Manager and Capture) staff and linemanagement to support cross enterprise objectives and customerengagement. Support overall strategic planning and linkingpursuits/capture activities which support the business developmentmetrics for awards, submits, and pipeline. Interact routinely withvarious levels of management, functional leads, other staff, andcustomers. Direct engagement with senior level industry andGovernment clients is required. Brief business development statusto senior management.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity ofcustomer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in a technical field) and 10 plusyears in performing Business Development and/or capture functionsfor DoD agencies and clients. Experience supporting and interfacingwith senior executives and business professionals. Coordinationwith company executives, sales and marketing professionalsrequired. Proven track record of successful business developmentfor large and small pursuits with experience utilizing a variety ofIDIQs, MACs, TO pursuits and standalone contracts. Strongrelationships with industry partners—demonstrated ability to formteams and negotiate teaming relationships with new and existingpartners. Excellent oral, written and verbal communication skills.
Leadership skills to develop, organize and execute significant BDactivities, including building industry teams, assessing winprobability, and executing customer call plans.
Desired Skills:
Experience with BAAs and OTAs desired. Experience utilizing IAC MACand/or OASIS IDIQs strongly desired. Experience supporting and/orperforming Air Force growth pursuits desired. A Secret securityclearance is strongly desired.
