JOB SUMMARY
The District Sales Manager (DSM) role requiresexceptional management of sale performance among Sales Consultants(SCs). This position is responsible for driving a performanceculture, coaching and developing the talent of their salesconsultants to achieve profitable planned case and GP growth
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages the performance and development of SalesConsultants (MAs) within the district.
- Engages in one-on-onecoaching and direction by conducting an average of 3-5 SCwork-withs a week.
- Effectively lead and facilitate Fridaydistrict meetings that educate, inspire and ultimately produce keybehavior changes to drive sales.
- Lead and direct CustomerEngagement efforts by enabling the district SC to provide Syscocustomers with expanded service channel options ( Technologyenablers, value added services, and team selling)
- Must possessa continuous improvement mentality around technology, sales skills,soft skills and product knowledge
- Leverages the Sales Supportresources and tools to maximize the consultative time of the SC
- Fully leverages our CRM in the management of SC’s sales planning,prospecting, and daily customer engagement and expects productiveutilization of Sysco 360 among all SC’s.
- Successfully deliversSysco brand results and directly manages conversion opportunitieswithin the district.
- Supports and promotes all national campaignsand promotions
- Accountable for providing coaching, training, andtimely feedback to drive sales consultant development ofconsultative selling skills of the sales associates (The Sysco Wayto Sell).
- Fully utilizes the CMP and QPP Processes to coach theperformance of all sales colleagues in the district.
- Responsiblefor execution of territory planning and management
- Prioritizesindependent relationships with top customers and high valueprospects.
- Champions company initiatives and implements centerled strategy within the district.
- Additional sales managementresponsibilities including, but are not limited to, otheroperational duties and customer relationship management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School education required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. business administration)or equivalent relevant industry experience. Experience
- 2 or moreyears’ experience successfully growing profitable sales in thefoodservice industry.
- 5 years’ foodservice sales experience inthe foodservice industry preferred. Professional Skills
- Excellentinterpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety ofstakeholders.
- Can derive insights from others through probingquestions and collaborative problem-solving.
- Superborganizational and project management skills, including the abilityto execute multiple initiatives autonomously.
- Able to thrive in afast-paced work environment.
- Ability to use Sysco’s proprietaryCustomer Relationship Management (CRM) tool for planning andforecasting sales growth.
- Demonstrates mastery of skills in thearea of consultative selling, marketing principles, prospecting,networking, coaching, and negotiations.
- Effectively coach,counsel, train and direct associates.
- Capable of supervising andmotivating others.
- Write reports and business correspondence.
- Develop new business, penetrate existing accounts, and minimizelost business to achieve profitable sales growth and specialobjectives within assigned territory.
- Seek and qualify prospectsunder company account stratification goals.
- Research customerbusiness needs and develops a mix of products and service to meetneeds.
- Evaluate market trends and recommend products tocustomers, based on business needs and goals.
- Be informed ofmarket conditions, product innovations, and competitors’ products,prices, and sales; share information with customers as part ofvalue-added services provided.
- Answer customers’ questions aboutproducts, prices, availability, and product use.
- Provide productinformation and practical training to customer personnel.
- Communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary, workingwith the credit department and client; collect all balances duebased on approved credit terms.
- Manage deliveries to the routingschedule published by the transportation department.
- Troubleshootany problems that occur during the order process (for example, outof stock items, special order items, low inventory, etc.).
- Participate in company functions, promotions, customer visits, andcustomer events.
- Attend and participate in general sales anddistrict meetings.
- Review and analyze daily and weekly reportssuch as special order requests, customer bid files, and sales/grossprofit margin data.
- Perform administrative duties, such aspreparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records,processing credits, and pick-up requests, preparing sales quotesand menu suggestions, and filing reports.
- Participate in ongoingtraining sessions.
- Assist with the training of new employees asrequested.
