Sometimes referred to as “hydrovac,” hydro excavation is a cutting-edge excavation technique that harnesses the power of water pressure and vacuum technology to safely and efficiently expose underground utilities, without the risks associated with mechanical digging.

Essential Functions:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to expand our Hydro Excavation services market. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, building strong relationships with clients, and driving revenue growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong sales background, industry knowledge, and the ability to develop strategic partnerships.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Identify and pursue new business opportunities for Hydro Excavation services within construction, utility, and industrial sectors Proactively manage the business and provide feedback to Executive Leadership on critical issues. Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, including contractors, municipalities, and Customers. Conduct market research to identify potential clients and industry trends. Generate leads through networking, cold calling, and attending industry events. Responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, training and standards of the company and each individual client are met. Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals tailored to client needs. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction. Is expected to have a clear understanding, working knowledge of the financial statements of the department under his/her supervision, identifying and implementing improvements for the profitability of the department. Meet and exceed sales targets and revenue goals. Integrates the organization’s business plan, goals, and action items, including cost management/ profitability through day-to-day decisions and communication. Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline management within CRM systems. Administers compliance of fleet policies and procedures. Provides leadership to optimize vehicle utilization and minimize life cycle cost. Stay updated on industry regulations, safety protocols, and competitive market conditions. Participates in industry/professional forums to stay abreast of industry direction and new technologies Delivers continuous Improvement in productivity, safety, quality, and cost

Success Factors:

Strong understanding of Hydro Excavation methods and their applications. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; ability to maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with all customers (internal/external). Understanding of environmental and safety regulations relevant to Hydro Excavation services. Strong customer service skills, ability to build relationships. Excellent analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Self-motivated with a results-driven mindset. Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.

Experience and Education:

Previous experience in Hydro Excavation sales or related services Existing network of industry contacts Proven track record in business development, sales, or account management within the Hydro Excavation, construction, or utility services industry. Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Business or closely related field. Three to Five or more (3-5+) years of Business Development experience required. Five to Ten or more (5-10+) years of commercial construction experience required. Three to Five (3-5) years of customer relations experience required. Well-Developed leadership skills and the ability to work well with others at all levels of the organization. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, along with a strong client service orientation.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

Travel will be required up to 50% of the time in the South Eastern part of the United States. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment. Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
