Position Summary:

The Director of Business Development will serve as Bionova’s representative to clients and external stakeholders. The qualified candidate should be comfortable conducting consultative technical sales discussions for biopharmaceutical manufacturing projects and be familiar with the sales process for large, complex technical projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and execute a sales plan to generate new business within the territory, including but not limited to Prospecting strategy: how you will find and qualify prospective clients.

Travel and communication strategy:

how you will connect with prospective clients, both in person and through email, phone calls, virtual meetings and in-territory networking events.

Marketing strategy:

advise on how Bionova can best help you reach prospective clients in the territory through marketing placements, conference attendance, professional/regional association memberships, etc. Close coordination with internal stakeholders involved in scoping projects and maintaining client relationships, including technical staff, project management staff and administrative/support staff. Maintain relationships with existing clients to generate follow-on business. Prepare technical proposals using provided templates and input from technical staff.

Travel expectation:

25% to 50% for visits to client sites within territory, tradeshow/conference attendance and to support customer visits at Bionova’s site in Fremont, CA.

Working Conditions:

This position required to work in office environments, spend significant time meeting clients, attending events, and traveling to locations in the USA. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 20 pounds independently. Background, Skills & Experience Minimum bachelor’s degree in a Life Science field. Advanced degree is a plus. 8+ years of experience in the life science, Biologics industry or a CDMO would be preferred. Ability to develop and maintain relationships with both external (client) and internal stakeholders and decision makers. Ability to lead multi-functional teams for technical discussions, scope evaluation and contract negotiation with the goal of ensuring positive client experiences. Demonstrated understanding of biomanufacturing processes and projects at a level appropriate for business development activities. Demonstrated experience stewarding client relationships to driving revenue growth through technical business-to-business sales in the biopharmaceutical industry. Ability to work remotely and remain accountable to meeting business objectives and maintaining timely communications. Ability to determine client needs and leverage the technical capabilities of the organization to provide value-based proposals. High comfort level with highly competitive situations and complex customer needs and decision factors. Demonstrate a strong work ethic, high level of integrity, self-motivation and ability to maintain a trustworthy and credible presence with clients and internal stakeholders.

Compensation Range:

The base compensation range for this role is between $150,000 and $180,000. However, the actual compensation may vary depending on your experience and qualifications.
