THE ROLE
The Director of Sales is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive sales strategies that drive revenue growth in Group Sales and Travel Trade Ticket Sales for One World Observatory (OWO). This role leads the recruitment, training, supervision, and motivation of the Legends sales team, with a strong focus on optimizing both individual and team performance. A critical part of this position involves cultivating and maintaining strong relationships within the local community as well as across the tour and travel industry. The ideal candidate brings extensive sales and management experience, a proven track record of success, and a resourceful, entrepreneurial mindset.
ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop outreach strategies and necessary plans for the annual budget for Groups and Travel Trade and establish department workflow to deliver the plan
Achieve monthly & yearly ticket and revenue targets set forth by management
Develop and deliver strategic, integrated sales and marketing campaigns in conjunction with the sales and marketing team, which includes an innovative outreach/communication plan and educational programs to maximize ticket revenue year-round
Lead sales team recruitment and manage onboarding plan; effectively lead, manage, and mentor day-to-day functions of the sales staff
Create and implement regular sales training initiatives to increase sales rep productivity and elevate overall sales team performance
Create and track leads and develop long-term relationships in the group and tour & travel communities
Work in conjunction with the Director of Marketing to establish a creative support plan for monthly, quarterly, and annual digital or printed sales campaigns, communication, and collateral
Update pricing models, refine ticketing price points and packages, and adjust revenue projections as required.
Work closely with Tour Operations and ticketing system personnel as well as box office staff to track sales and execute ticketing programs
Track daily revenue, manage campaigns, and communicate the sales team performance to the Legends teams
Oversee database management and ensure accuracy of contracts and invoices
Build effective partnerships and foster formidable relationships with key external stakeholders
Attend some networking events and possibly tradeshows or sales missions with management support
Maintain open communications and effective collaborative relationships within Legends verticals and other venues
Execute off-site job responsibilities or travel 10% or as needed/requested by management
Perform other duties or responsibilities as requested by senior management
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Interview, select, train, supervise, counsel and discipline team members
Ensure staffing levels for team based on business levels
Organize and conduct departmental meetings communicating pertinent information to the team
Work closely with the Marketing and Social Media team to ensure synergy across the two functions
Provide guidance toward improvement and make necessary adjustments for consistency
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required from four-year college or university
5+ years of related experience, preferably in a high-volume sales management or marketing role; experience in tourism, events and/or high-volume attractions a plus
Proven leadership experience in a sales environment including coaching, mentoring, hiring, training, and performance management
Proven experience in integrated marketing planning and execution, including management of multiple marketing channels, as well as agency partners, to meet objectives
SKILLS AND ABILITIES A

Strong analytical and leadership skills, along with excellent written and oral communication
Ability to proactively prioritize, manage and complete multiple projects within time constraints and with impeccable attention to detail
Ability to analyze data, research processes, ticket sales patterns, and demographic trends
Creative and resourceful thinker with excellent negotiation skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience with managing a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, master collaborator

Ability to effectively evaluate risks and liabilities of special events and venue rentals
Ability to develop and deliver sound recommendations to senior management
Strong organization and planning skills
Ability to delegate effectively
Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Salesforce preferred, or the ability to quickly learn required
Ability to work both traditional and non-traditional hours (nights, weekends, holidays) as required
COMPENSATION
Competitive salary range of $140,000 – $160,000 plus bonus potential commensurate with experience, and a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401k plan.
