You’ll oversee daily Wholesale operations, drive strategic improvements, and play a key role in the estimating and sales process for residential, commercial, and industrial customers across Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. What You’ll Do As Wholesale Manager, you’ll be responsible for the performance, personnel, and customer experience of the Wholesale Division—ensuring efficient operations and exceptional service. Estimating & Sales Support Prepare precise, timely estimates for wholesale orders, including custom and standard material packages. Generate sales orders, create shop drawings, and communicate clearly with customers, shop employees, and production personnel. Produce accurate gate cut lists and tagging for the production team, ensuring orders are ready for fabrication or pick-up. Stay up to date on current product offerings and pricing across multiple vendors and materials—including PVC, chain link, aluminum, wood, and custom gate components • Customer Service & Physical Involvement Build and maintain long-term relationships with dealers, contractors, and walk-in customers. Handle in-person, phone, and email inquiries with professionalism, urgency, and follow-through Take ownership of the full customer experience, from quoting and order entry to fulfillment and after-sale support. Assist with order staging and physically help with customer loading when needed—this is a hands-on role that requires being on your feet and contributing to daily operations alongside the team. Occasionally assist with unloading supplier deliveries if staffing coverage requires. Operations & Team Leadership Manage daily activities in warehousing, receiving, stock control, vendor orders, and shop coordination. Oversee carrier and freight management to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery solutions. Work with vendors to source materials at the most competitive pricing. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching, accountability, and leadership for wholesale team members. Foster strong collaboration across internal departments, including Installation, Retail, Warehouse, Production, and PVC Manufacturing, to ensure seamless communication and operational efficiency. Support the consolidation and cross-training of the wholesale team with other business units as needed. Scheduling & Coverage Expectations Ensure full coverage of the Wholesale Department during core business hours:
Monday-Friday:
6:00 AM to 5:00 PM (with coverage extended to 6:00 PM one day per week)
Saturday:
7:00 AM to 11:00 AM (rotating schedule or as needed) Maintain and manage the staff schedule to ensure consistent service, and personally cover shifts when other team members are unavailable. Qualifications & Skills 5-10+ years of management experience, ideally in wholesale building materials, fence supply, or a related construction/trade environment Strong estimating experience and attention to technical detail, especially in custom material takeoffs Demonstrated leadership, team development, and conflict resolution skills. Proven ability to maintain long-term customer relationships and deliver consistent, friendly service. Highly organized with strong analytical, planning, and follow-through capabilities Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable learning industry-specific software platforms Willingness to step in physically where needed—whether it’s loading a truck or assisting in the shop.
