Job Description

General Sales Manager Confidential Nashville, TN 37204 Middle Tennessee vehicle dealership is looking for an experienced sales manager in one of our Nashville locations. The Sales Manager interacts in the most professional manner possible with both customers and fellow employees. They must be highly organized, as many of the day-to-day responsibilities are time sensitive. The Sales Manager will be proactive in seeking ways to improve performance and efficiency. Employee development will be a priority. The successful manager will be a coach for their employees, expecting and achieving the best performance possible from them.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Foster an attitude of harmony and teamwork with all departments.
  • Ensure the department is properly staffed, assisting in recruiting and hiring as necessary.
  • Ensure all sales personnel are up to date on product knowledge and training provided by manufacturers.
  • Be familiar with OEM sales programs and ensure that all salespeople understand them.
  • Set and guide sales objectives for vehicle salespeople, helping underperforming staff improve their numbers.
  • Conduct weekly sales training meetings and formal yearly performance reviews.
  • Ensure all salespeople achieve their goals for inbound and outbound customer contracts.
  • Run the sales desk and help salespeople close deals when necessary.
  • Recommend new unit inventory by color and model.
  • Ensure all paperwork is properly filled out and handled in a timely manner.
  • Control inventory to prevent overstock or excessive flooring costs.
  • Maintain standards for vehicle delivery to customers.
  • Assist in developing and executing advertising campaigns, open houses, and other promotions.
  • Ensure all units are clean and displayed properly.
  • Assign value for all vehicles accepted as trade-ins.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Proven experience in a sales management role, preferably in vehicle sales. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time-sensitive tasks. Excellent leadership and coaching abilities. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to foster a team-oriented environment. Proficiency in sales processes and techniques. Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations affecting vehicle sales.

Preferred education and experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years’ related experience preferred
