WHAT WE’RE OFFERING
The Market Development Manager
- MDU (Brownfield Communities) is responsible for leading sales and relationship efforts in established multi-dwelling unit (MDU) properties—buildings that are already constructed, whether or not they are currently served by United.
The primary focus is driving growth and penetration in these built communities, securing bulk contracts, marketing rights, and resident adoption of fiber services. While the emphasis is on existing MDUs, this role may also pursue new construction opportunities that stem from relationships they’ve cultivated, provided those opportunities do not overlap with the responsibilities of other Market Development Managers. This position blends strategic relationship-building with on-the-ground execution, leveraging local trust, property engagement, and community visibility to expand United’s footprint.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include the following, but other duties may be assigned as required. Develop and manage a targeted outreach plan focused on increasing sales and agreements in existing MDUs across United’s service area. Identify and engage key decision-makers (e.g., property managers, HOA boards, ownership groups) in established communities. Secure marketing agreements, right-of-entry, and bulk contracts to support growth in fiber adoption and resident penetration. Build trust within MDU communities by representing United at HOA meetings, resident events, and neighborhood functions. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, construction, marketing, and customer operations teams to support the delivery of service, particularly in unserved or underpenetrated properties. Provide field-level insights on competition, pricing, and resident needs to inform strategic adjustments. Maintain accurate records of property activity, pipeline status, and contract progress in CRM platforms.
SUCCESS METRICS
(First 6-12 Months) Identify and prioritize 100 established MDUs for outreach and engagement. Conduct 50+ in-person meetings with property decision-makers. Host or participate in 20 resident or HOA-sponsored events. Secure 10 or more new marketing rights or bulk agreements. Accurately track progress and activity in CRM and report regularly to leadership.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, communications, or sales. 3-5 years of experience in field sales, account management, or MDU-focused roles—telecom or property management background preferred. Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation capabilities. Ability to manage a wide territory with strong time management and independent initiative. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools (Salesforce or similar preferred). Comfortable leading in-person meetings with property stakeholders, board members, and resident groups.
