Job Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Cashier to join our retail team at a busy Convenience Store. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing cash transactions, handling customer queries, and maintaining a positive and welcoming store environment.

Duties:

• Operate a cash register and handle cash, credit card, and other forms of payment accurately and efficiently.
• Manage and balance the cash register at the end of each shift, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and all cash and credit card receipts are accounted for.
• Assist customers with purchases, answer questions about products, and provide information about promotions and sales.
• Provide excellent customer service by being friendly, courteous, and attentive to customer needs.
• Upsell and cross-sell products to increase sales and improve customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the cash register area and surrounding store environment.
• Participate in inventory management by counting and tracking inventory levels.
• Maintain knowledge of store products, including prices, features, and availability.
• Be proficient in basic math and retail math to manage cash and make change accurately.
• Perform other duties as required, including opening and closing the store.

Experience:

• Previous experience as a cashier or in a retail sales role is highly desirable but not mandatory.
• Experience working in a grocery store or similar retail environment is preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong customer service skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Skills:

• Basic math and retail math skills to manage cash and make change accurately.
• Experience with cash handling and operating a cash register.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to sell and upsell products to increase sales.
• Proficiency in retail sales and knowledge of store products.
• Bilingual skills are an asset, but not necessary.
