PURPOSE OF POSITION

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position was developed to operate a concessions stand, providing a family friendly atmosphere. The position will extend the Y’s mission by creating a positive atmosphere where everyone is respected and welcomed and builds relationships with team members and members alike.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

General Operations Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner. Take food and beverage orders accurately. Prepare and serve food items such as popcorn, hot dogs, nachos, and beverages. Operate cash registers and handle monetary transactions. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the concessions area, including restocking supplies. Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines Assist with inventory management and product restocking. Provide excellent customer service and resolve guest issues promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Previous customer service or food service experience is a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Basic math and money-handling skills. Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required. Must be at least 16 years old.

WORK SCHEDULE

Work schedules may vary per the Y’s hours of operation. Most Y’s are open 7 days a week:

Mon.•Fri. 5:00 a.m.•8:00 p.m.

Sat. 8:00 a.m.•6:00 p.m.

Sun. 1:00 p.m.•6:00 p.m. Overtime, evenings, and weekend work will be required depending on the business need.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to see the close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Lifting up to 25 pounds. Standing for long periods. Works outside in 80-90+ degree temperatures for a maximum of 20-60 minutes at a time several times during a shift. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position which includes walking, standing, bending, reaching frequently, as well as correctly demonstrating the proper form of exercises.
