Job Description

Receiving Checker Garden State Cold Storage, LLC. 474 Wilson Avenue, Newark, NJ 07105 Job Summary The Primary responsibility of the Receiving Checker is to Tally and verify all inbound products received into Garden State Cold Storage warehouse. All receipts & products are to be received in a safe, accurate and efficient manner Essential Job Functions 1) You must verify all information on the breakdowns or packing list for all inbound loads to GSCS. 2) Count, tally, verify, label, stage and put-away all inbound products in a timely manner. Any inbound products should be completely put-away within the same day or 24hours max. Written tallies are to be filled out entirely with no fields unidentified or left blank, insert “N/A” for any inapplicable fields or missing information. 3) Receiving checker must ensure to scan the correct pallet id to product based on item description and counts. 4) All pallets/product moves are to be made using the WMS RF Scanner. 5) Nothing should enter the freezer without a pallet ID. One or more receiving checkers must be present during the opening of any truckload and or container received into GSCS. 6) Discrepancies in counts or item descriptions should be discussed immediately with Receiving manager and then if needed with the salesperson handling the customer’s account. 7) Ensure that drivers are the only persons to back up and open containers. No dock employees are to open any container doors by leaving the platform. 8) Must work and coordinate with receiving runners and unloaders as needed. 9) You are responsible for ensuring that the receiving office as well as dock are neat and organized at all times. 10) Make sure that dock is kept clean always. Every night the dock should be left with no pallets and or garbage on the floor. 11) Regarding Food Safety, boxes and shrink-wrap are not to be placed on the bare floor. Never step on or climb on products. Sufficient shrink wrap should be kept on hand at all times. 12) Good pallets and bad pallets should be separated as the unloaders work. Ensure there are enough usable pallets and shrink wrap on hand always. Notify management when pallets or shrink wrap is running low. 13) Report and discuss any potential problems, concerns and or ideas to the Receiving Manager or Warehouse Manager. Know the unloader job description and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

  • 1-3 years’ experience in warehouse operations

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject the following work environment:
    • The employee is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
    • The employee is working on a dock.
    • The employee is subject to extreme cold: temperatures typically between 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit and occasionally may be exposed to temperatures of 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • The employee is subject to hazards including moving pallets; material and/or equipment handling.

    • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
    • The employee is required to operate machinery and/or equipment such as forklifts, electric jacks, etc.
    • The employee is required to have visual acuity to operate machinery and/or heavy equipment.
    • The rate for the position is subject to change based on experience, qualifications and other relevant factors.
