POSITION SUMMARY
The primary responsibility for all positions with Skaneateles Town Square is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time and uphold the Core Values as determined by the management team. The Key Carrier is responsible for the overall direction of store associates and coordination of store operations in the absence of key store management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for opening and/or closing the store as dictated by schedule
- In the absence of management staff, serves as the “Manager on Duty” by directing the store team, and adhering to company directed policies and procedures as they relate to the store operations; receiving of merchandise, store opening and closing processes, cash register transactions, daily cash reconciliation, and inventory control.
- Resolve and/or report any issues pertaining the shift including employee, customer, product issues, etc.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures and serves as role model for safety.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of retail experience.
- Technically proficient in computer systems including related software
- Gather and analyze data and maintain accurate records.
- Take initiative, assume responsibility, and execute thoroughly.
- Interact with staff at all levels of the organization.
- Possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with company’s insurance carrier’s standards.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Head Cashier position is primarily responsible for the cashiers and for the receipt and disbursement of money for sales transactions for all Cashiers, assist in daily operations at the cash wrap area (e.g., draw count, and help to train new Cashiers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure each customer receives outstanding service which follows the
S.A.L.E.S
process and by mystery shop standards
- Greet customers as they enter the store
- Troubleshoot point of sale problems
- Effectively train and direct the activities of cashier assigned to the front end and set the standard for customer service
- Ensure that associates assigned to the front-end consistently follow all policies and procedures including established safety procedures; communicate issues to management
- Perform cash pulls, make change orders and deposits in accordance with established policies
- Ensure that merchandise displays in the front-end area remain clean, organized and well-stocked
- Ensure return merchandise is restocked to the correct product location on the sales floor and that all damaged and defective merchandise is properly labeled
- Answer incoming telephone calls following company’s guidelines.
- Page over the PA system when necessary.
- Tactfully and pleasantly deal with customers
- Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements
- Perform register sales transaction quickly and accurately in accordance with established cash control procedures and customer service guidelines
- Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management
- Solicit customers to open an Ace Rewards card, issue receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers
- Acts as lead cashier without formal supervisory responsibilities in training and reviewing the work of cashiers.
- Assists with the work schedule of cashiers.
- Promotes Ace Rewards to all customers, and maintain all related supplies.
- Advice management of any personnel increases or reduction needed.
- Conduct Cashiers meetings; provide training and development of new associates in the assigned department.
- Order and maintain all training supplies, associate uniforms, and related supplies
- Advise management when associates violate company policies.
- Assist management in the interviewing of new cashiers.
- Relay communication to associates from management and vice versa.
- Assist Customers with complaints, unless they require a manager.
- Watch for shoplifters and take action, in line with company policy, that will discourage shoplifting.
- Review and follow company policies and procedures.
- Perform other assigned tasks as requested by management.
- Provide motivation and leadership to associates in assigned department.
- Always be patient and helpful under pressure with associates and customers.
- Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team.
- Provide and accept constructive suggestions and instructions.
- Prioritize work to keep department on task.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- High School degree, some college preferred
- Prior experience managing associates and handling cash, preferably in a retail environment
- A commitment to service, excellence and customer satisfaction
- Ability to take leadership role in training and coaching team members on skills needed to positively impact sales
- Ability to communicate with associates and customers
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail
- Maintain composure while supervising multiple tasks and handling customer complaints
- Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills with a strong willingness to learn
- Knowledge of retail computer systems, electronic cash registers, MS Word, and Excel a plus
- This is a supplemental job description to be utilized for those associates that have this additional responsibility.
This is not a position by itself and the associate with this responsibility is expected to adhere to these expectations along with the expectations set forth on the job description for their main role within the store.
