As an Associate Merchant at Floor & Decor, you’ll do more than manage products—you’ll lead the charge in making us the industry leader in hard surface flooring. From product selection and pricing to inventory management and vendor strategy, you’ll have full P&L ownership of your category. This role blends strategic thinking with deep product knowledge and hands-on execution, giving you the opportunity to influence national assortments, identify new trends, and develop long-term vendor partnerships. Your Days Will Consist Of Defining and executing a go-to-market strategy for your category—selecting the right mix of trend-forward, good/better/best products that meet regional needs and drive profitable growth Owning vendor relationships from end to end, negotiating best-in-class pricing and terms while identifying opportunities for innovation and exclusivity Forecasting, analyzing, and adjusting inventory levels to ensure in-stock performance and turn optimization Partnering with cross-functional teams—marketing, planning, inventory, visual merchandising, and store ops—to launch products, shape promotions, and elevate the customer experience Collaborate with the Senior Director of Regional Merchandising to tailor assortments to store and market demand while ensuring national brand consistency Continuously monitor the competitive landscape and industry trends to ensure Floor & Decor remains a category leader in innovation, value, and style You’ll Be Successful With 3+ years of merchandising, buying, or category management experience (required) —preferably in flooring, home improvement, or a high-SKU retail environment Strategic thinking, and the ability to synthesize insights from multiple systems and teams to inform decisions and build category plans A proven ability to manage P&L, own assortment strategy, and make data-driven decisions that impact margin, turns, and market share Strong data analysis and negotiation skills and a history of building high-value, long-term vendor partnerships that drive cost savings and product differentiation A deep understanding of market trends and consumer behavior—able to balance gut instinct with hard data to anticipate and act on what’s next Comfort working cross-functionally and driving alignment across merchandising, marketing, planning, and store teams Bonus points for project management experience and/or experience developing a full merchandising strategy, from pricing to marketing to product placement Interview Process Initial screen Hiring Manager Interview Panel Interview Join a fast-paced, high-growth company where your product visions turn into what our customers put in their carts. W orking Conditions (travel, hours, environment) Limited travel may be required including air and car travel While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate. Physical/Sensory Requirements Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 – 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
