SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Retail & POS Planner is responsible for planning and procurement of Highland Brewing’s retail merchandise and branded point-of-sale (POS) assets in our distribution footprint. The Retail & POS Planner will support business growth by aligning on-brand, on-trend product sourcing with strategic inventory management, purchasing systems and collaborative vendor relationships. Retail includes the onsite merchandise areas at both Highland taprooms and the online store. POS refers to branded assets, displays and promotional items used by our sales team and distributors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Planning, Procurement & Fulfillment Coordinate with Hospitality to source retail merchandise that supports the company brand Coordinate with Marketing & Sales to source promotional items and in-store display materials aligned with company promotional initiatives and sales Facilitate custom retail and POS items specific to campus amenities, events, beer releases, sales team initiatives and sponsorships in accordance with budget guidelines Collaborate with Hospitality to develop merchandise bundles, and/or point of purchase items to encourage more items sold per transaction and higher ticket averages Gather market data and analyze merchandise trends Accurately and efficiently request purchase orders, approve invoices and count in merchandise orders upon arrival Accurately and efficiently record COGs, quantity, and retail prices into POS software Monitor profit margins and inventory in alignment with company sales and budget goals Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to maintain competitive pricing and expedited orders Coordinate incoming merchandise, inspect for damage and move to stock room. Coordinate orders shipped to distributors, which may include liaising with shipping companies and internal distribution teams, to ensure timely delivery and accurate fulfillment Coordinate retail and POS returns, if needed Purchase shipping materials and marketing project supplies, as needed Ensure online orders are processed, packed, and shipped out within 2 days or order Respond accurately and efficiently to guest inquiries regarding merchandise and online orders Inventory Management Proactively monitor inventories to prevent out-of-stock conditions for core merchandise, gift cards, and POS items and prevent overstocking for seasonal items Coordinate with Managers to develop actions plans to increase or decrease inventory as needed to align with monthly, quarterly and annual business goals Participate in monthly/quarterly retail inventory and accurately report goods on hand Merchandising Support Provide planning materials to Hospitality to support retail merchandising & pricing strategy Train Hospitality Staff on retail systems, merchandising and service elements and maintain SOPs for best practices and expectations for staff in retail areas with appropriate lighting, shelving, signage, and display space Maintain knowledge of the Highland brand story, beer styles, campus amenities, family history to educate and communicate our mission and vision to guests Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree in Retail Management, Business, Communications, or a Marketing related field is preferred.
Experience:
Two years of experience in a retail store is required and one year of merchandising, purchasing and management experience in a retail store is preferred Enthusiasm for craft beer and delivering an incredible guest experience is required

Ability to stand for long periods of time and do physically demanding work is required Ability to work unpacking and packing boxes is required Bending, twisting, reaching overhead, lifting up to 30lbs frequently & up to 50lbs occasionally Working with cleaning chemicals occasionally Willingness to work weekends may be required based on holiday sales (est 10%)
