Head of Merchandising, Off-Price Division Belk – 3.4 New York, NY Job Details $180,000 – $280,000 a year 11 hours ago Qualifications Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel React Product marketing Merchandising Retail buying Windows Analysis skills Bachelor’s degree WCAG Senior level 4 years Communication skills Marketing Negotiation Full Job Description The Off-Price Leader is responsible for developing, communicating, and executing merchandise and planning strategies to his/ her respective team to meet or exceed sales, margin and turn targets within his/ her area of accountability outlet model. This person maintains a singular focus on the product, value, price and quality being delivered to the customer by leveraging competitive insights, customer and business analysis. Additionally, maximizing the financial performance of product categories in alignment with the financial plans. In order to deliver upon the off-price strategies, this position requires a leader to bring their vision to life through strong strategy development and execution, leveraging their strong financial business acumen, while collaboratively working with cross-functional partners and leading a team of merchants and planners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and execute merchandise strategies and assortment plans, based on customer feedback, inventory availability and preferences, to deliver financial goals and business objectives while providing value, quality and on-brand merchandise for the outlet stores Develop and communicate strategic vision and goals, along with the customer and marketplace perspective, to stores and respective cross-functional partners Ensure business decisions, merchandise strategies and assortment plans meet divisional objectives and align with customer and store needs Attend frequent, relevant trade shows, markets and events to observe and stay current on market trends, gather product information, select merchandise and establish business relationships Create all necessary analysis based on trends, events and other store related needs Identifies opportunities to improve overall plan quality Build and maintain strong relationships with vendor partners, while building a presence with new and existing vendors React to feedback based on store and customer needs Oversee merchandise selection; negotiate best costs and delivery of product through the team Manage all aspects of product placement, marketing and any pricing related tasks Oversee vendor negotiations as needed to attain key targets, metrics and quality Assess business opportunities and risks in-season through analyzing sales performance and gathering marketplace information; implement strategies to ensure plans are achieved Build a high quality team by developing partnerships, leading, coaching and providing constructive feedback Leads the open-to-buy process to manage business in-season and maximize opportunities Lead and develop a team of Buyers, Planners, Merchandise Assistants Required for All Jobs Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all policies and standards
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree
WORK EXPERIENCE 7-9
years retail experience; Required 4-6 years retail buying Required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Effectively manages a large scope of responsibility to achieve financial targets based on a sound knowledge of merchandising concepts Thinks conceptually, strategically and operationally Strong negotiation skills Exceptional at relationship building and maintaining strong relationships internally and externally Collaborative approach Excellent analytical and reasoning skills Demonstrates strong listening, written and oral communication skills Is highly organized, prioritizes and multitasks to meet deadlines.
