Parts Inventory Clerk City of East Point, GA – 3.3 East Point, GA Job Details Full-time $41,600 – $45,308 a year 4 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Entry level Full Job Description This position is responsible for acquiring a variety of materials, supplies, automotive and truck parts, equipment and tools for the Fleet Division. Major Duties Purchases automotive parts, materials, supplies, and tools in a timely manner and at the best price while still maintaining quality; Locates and arranges for the delivery of parts that are not in stock; Assists in maintaining records regarding parts purchased; conducts inventory on a daily basis; Assists mechanics in determining appropriate parts to be ordered; and orders substitute automotive parts on the basis of knowledge of inter-changeability; Handles calls from vendors; contacts vendors when necessary regarding parts, shipments and availability; Performs related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent; one (1) or more years of related experience preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge Required by the Position The Fleet Superintendent assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks work in progress and reviews completed work for the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines include City codes, departmental and safety policies and procedures, and supervisory instructions. These guidelines are clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.

Scope and Effect :
This position ensures the Fleet division has the parts and tools necessary to ensure the City vehicles are repaired in a time-efficient manner.

Contact is typically with other fleet division members.

Contacts are to give and exchange information, resolve problems, and negotiate or settle matters.
Physical Demands :
The work is typically performed with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee must frequently lift light and heavy objects, climb ladders, and use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
Work Environment :
Most work is completed in a shop. The work involves considerable physical activity with exposure to safety hazards normally associated with general vehicle and equipment repair.
