Job Title:
Automotive Parts Specialist Position Summary:
The Automotive Parts Specialist is responsible for accurately identifying, sourcing, and providing the correct automotive parts to technicians and customers. This role requires extensive knowledge of automotive systems, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and possess a solid understanding of inventory management principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Parts Identification & Sourcing:
Accurately identify and locate automotive parts using electronic catalogs, schematics, and other resources based on vehicle make, model, year, and VIN. Source parts from various suppliers, including dealerships, aftermarket distributors, and online vendors, ensuring competitive pricing and timely delivery. Provide accurate quotes for parts to technicians and customers.
Inventory Management:
Receive, inspect, and stock incoming parts, ensuring proper labeling and storage. Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct regular cycle counts, and assist with physical inventory. Monitor stock levels and reorder parts as needed to ensure availability and minimize downtime. Process core returns, warranty parts, and damaged goods efficiently.
Customer Service:
Assist technicians with parts inquiries, providing technical information and support. Answer customer questions about parts availability, pricing, and compatibility. Process parts orders and returns for both internal and external customers. Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors and customers.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an automotive parts department, dealership, or auto parts retail environment required. Proven experience with electronic parts catalogs and inventory management systems.
Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of automotive systems (e.g., engine, transmission, braking, suspension, electrical) and their components. Familiarity with various vehicle makes and models. Understanding of inventory control principles and best practices.
Skills:
Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and verbal). Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work independently1 and as part of a team. Good organizational and time management skills. Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.3
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. ASE Parts Specialist certification or vocational training in automotive technology is a plus.
Other:
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. [
