Position Summary:
The Shop Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of a low-speed vehicle (LSV) dealership. This hands-on position assists technicians, helps maintain a clean and organized work environment, manages parts and tools, and ensures efficient workflow throughout the service area.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist technicians with vehicle repairs, maintenance, and installations as needed Perform basic tasks such as battery installation, tire inflation, and detailing Move, wash, and prep vehicles for delivery or service Maintain cleanliness and organization in the service bays, parts room, and shop areas Conduct inventory counts and assist in stocking shelves with parts and supplies Retrieve and deliver parts between departments or to/from vendors Dispose of used parts and batteries according to environmental regulations Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned and returned to proper storage after use Support service writers with vehicle intake and customer handoff when required Perform other duties as assigned to support the team
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. and perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Positive attitude, team-oriented, and reliable work ethic Valid driver’s license
Work Environment:
Primarily in a shop/service setting May require occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions Exposure to tools, cleaning products, and vehicle components
