Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Development Director, Real Estate for a nationally recognized humanitarian nonprofit dedicated to supporting the lives of soldiers in Israel. This full-time position is hybrid, based in New York, NY, with engagement across the tri-state area (CT, NJ, and NY).
THE ROLE
The Development Director, Real Estate is responsible for raising philanthropic funds from New York’s real estate community, primarily within the Tri-State area. This role is critical to growing the organization’s regional income and enhancing community engagement. The Associate Director will oversee a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation donors, with an emphasis on cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
A deep and sincere connection to the organization’s mission is essential. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of diplomacy and poise and be comfortable building relationships with high-net-worth individuals. This role reports to the Executive Director, Northeast Affinity Groups.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and lead short- and long-term fundraising strategies specific to the real estate sector to support organizational goals.
Serve as the primary relationship manager for an assigned donor portfolio.
Partner with lay leaders and staff to align fundraising strategy, increase visibility, and maximize philanthropic support.
Support the creation and execution of donor communications and campaign-related materials.
Plan and implement special events for cultivation, stewardship, and recognition—including an annual gala dinner.
Manage the Real Estate Division Board, including leading board meetings, developing agendas, and defining division goals.
Maintain accurate donor records and activity tracking through the organization’s CRM system.
Contribute to team initiatives and take on other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience in philanthropic fundraising, including the major gifts solicitation, donor stewardship and a strong familiarity with the Financial Services sector.
Proven experience engaging donors in New York’s real estate community is required.
Familiarity with Jewish communal culture, values, and philanthropic landscape in New York.
Strong planning and execution skills related to strategic fundraising initiatives.
Ability to balance detailed management with big-picture strategy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to inspire and build trust.
Effective at engaging and working with volunteer leaders and board members.
High computer proficiency; experience with donor CRM platforms.
Energetic, self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Willingness to attend evening/weekend events and occasional travel to Israel.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity offering an annual salary of $90,000-$110,000, commensurate with experience.
