Summary:

This position will provide friendly, courteous, and helpful service and assistance to customers at the check stand, bagging groceries, providing carryout service of customers purchases, and in other areas of the store as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner, consistent with store safety policies and procedures. Bags customers purchases in accordance with store procedures. Handles groceries with extreme care, separates like items. Sorts and returns items to their proper locations, giving priority to refrigerated and perishable items. Performs price checks as requested. Collects shopping carts from parking lot and surrounding areas and returns carts to store. Assists with cleanup of spills, breakages, and other maintenance duties as assigned. Retrieves items that customers are unable to reach, lift, or find. Participates in training activities to increase personal skill levels, and to improve overall department processes and customer service. Maintains an organized and clean work area. May assist unloading delivery trucks. Performs other duties as assigned by the head checker or other management personnel. Meets the physical requirements to perform the job functions listed above. Provides light supervision and training of other associates when assigned.
