Full Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Receiving:
Greet donors, accept and unload donated items, and record customer information using a smart device (phone or tablet). Express appreciation to donors for their contributions.
Processing:
Sort, separate, and inspect clothing and household items. Clean, size, and mark small appliances, housewares, shoes, seasonal items, and other assorted merchandise for sale.
Sales/Cashiering:
Process sales transactions, ensuring proper control of cash and credit card payments. Follow correct procedures for handling voids, discounts, refunds, checks, and other forms of payment.
Cleaning:
Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, including bathrooms, floors, shelves, windows, the break room, store fixtures, fitting rooms, dock area, store exterior, and merchandise counters. Report maintenance issues and coordinate necessary repairs.
Customer Service:
Assist customers with inquiries, merchandise pricing, and fitting room support. Offer recycling bags, explain store operations, and implement effective sales techniques to enhance the store’s performance and community image.
Schedule:
Flexibility to work scheduled shifts, including nights and weekends. Exhibit excellent attendance and punctuality.
Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned to support store operations and customer service objectives. Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience. 6 months of related experience or training is highly desirable. Excellent customer service skills. Prior cashiering experience is a plus. Knowledge of electronic devices.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Applies common sense to follow detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Equipment, Machines, and Tools Used:
Cash register, pricing and tagging materials, box cutters, merchandise movement, and storage containers.
