Thrift Store Associate STATUS:

Part-Time, Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

: The Thrift Store Associate may work at all House of Hope Thrift Store locations. Assists with the daily operations of the House of Hope Thrift Store and retail warehouse. Assists with staging and sorting merchandise for the retail store. Assists with the intake of donations and organizing the physical space to ensure efficiency, cleanliness, safety and security.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with daily planning, organization, and operation of the thrift store and warehouse. Fill in at all Thrift Store locations as needed stores are located in Indiantown, Hobe Sound and Stuart. Work a flexible schedule that will include weekends. Assist with intake and distribution processes of donated goods. Assist with disposing of obsolete or damaged merchandise. Work with store manager to organize retail thrift area as well as warehouse space to ensure clean, safe, and efficient operation. Work in a cashier position when necessary to assist in customer service. Responsible for intake of money and credit card information. Assist clients and customers with individual needs. Provide support to fellow department team members and volunteers. Assist with merchandising, staging, and replenishing of product as necessary. Help with facility maintenance in conjunction with staff and volunteers. Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the Stuart House of Hope US 1 facility, including the warehouse, retail store, restrooms, and break area. Ensure the upkeep and exterior maintenance of the Stuart US 1 branch including landscaping, trash removal and general cleanliness of the parking and green areas. Stay informed in all areas of thrift store and warehouse safety and security standards. Perform all duties in conformance with appropriate cleanliness, safety, and security standards. Develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with both employees and volunteers. Act as an ambassador for House of Hope, attending meetings and serving on committees as required. Provide support to fellow department team members as well as outside departments as needed. Reliable transportation and a valid Florida Driver’s License required. Participate in disaster or emergency related duties as needed. Attend training as required. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

A High school diploma or GED is required. Two years of retail or warehouse-related experience is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Cash handling. Knowledge of organization and operations, including intake and distribution practices and procedures. Knowledge of inventory control procedures. Knowledge of thrift store/warehouse operations safety. Ability to organize, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Ability to work well with volunteers. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, maintaining the confidentiality of clients, co-workers, and the agency. Ability to relate well to individuals of all backgrounds and socio-economic levels. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently. Ability to operate general office equipment and point-of-sale system necessary to run retail operations. Ability to maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance and dress appropriately for the position. Must have reliable transportation. Compliance with House of Hope policies and procedures.

  • 5 pm Sat. : 9 am
  • 4 pm Sun. : 10 am
  • 4 pm Your schedule could fall on any of these days a times.

We are looking for someone with a flexible schedule. Schedules are planned a month in advance.
